Q: What is cnap.me?
A: CNAP (pronounced /SNAP) is the technology that we have spent the last few years developing to deliver “instant applications”, which actually stands for Compound Network Application Platform. It is cloud computing framework that intelligently distributes applications and services across the Internet.
Q: What does cnap.me do for me?
A: cnap.me gives you and me a secure customisable desktop, accessible from anywhere in the world, synchronised storage and applications that are launched “instantly” from the web to the desktop, as if they were locally installed and run.
Q: What does cnap.me Beta mean?
A: cnap.me is a new service that we have created for you, using the CNAP platform, which is already being used by thousands of people every day. We hope that cnap.me will make your life simpler, easier and more connected, and we want your feedback to reach that goal. If you have any problems or feedback, then please contact us.
Q: What is the “cloud”
A: The term "cloud" is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on how the Internet is depicted in computer network diagrams, and as a general term for a bunch of computers all connected and interacting with each other. Cloud computing is a style of computing where dynamically scalable and often virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet, and often refers specifically to applications and services that are hosted on the Internet and not your local device. Using cnap.me, we think the cloud means you and me connected to each other and the services we want, and in that respect this is very different to the traditional definition of cloud computing.
Q: What is a cnap.app?
A: A cnap.app is a new type of desktop “app” created using our platform and delivered “instantly” from the web to your desktop without the need to download, install or uninstall. This means you can try any app you like from our library, when you like, and you will always get the latest version! We think this is pretty cool, and how everyone will expect to access apps in the future and we hope you’ll agree.
Q: I don’t use Windows, will it still work?
A: Yes, we are planning to deliver cnap.me to Apple Mac, Linux and mobile. For the very first Beta release it is just Windows, so please bear with us. If you would like to become an official Beta tester for another platform, please contact us.
Q: Is cnap.me safe to use?
A: Yes, and we take your security and privacy very seriously, so everything you do on cnap.me is encrypted when your computer connects to the Internet. What this means is that all the information transmitted and stored is only available to you. We intend to keep it that way too.
Q: What is cnap.space?
A: cnap.space is simply a secure synchronised storage solution that allows you to store your data locally and within the cloud. There are two major benefits of our synchronised storage solution 1) Data is accessible from anywhere in the world, and 2) If you lose your Internet connection you can still access it locally! You get 2Gb absolutely free and you can currently upgrade up to 100Gb.

A: Our application library is growing already and we want to expand it significantly over the coming months, so please let us know what you want! You can also join our Developer Programmer.
